In 2006, Dr. Ozand relocated to Istanbul.  Previously, he was Chairman of the Department of Genetics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia and has a long clinical history of treating patients with propionic acidemia.  He initiated several preventative projects including preimplantation diagnosis and heterozygote detection in the general population in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Ozand has been active in constructing optimal dietary regimens for PA patients.   He has published many articles.
